On the Right Lines?: The Limits of Technological Innovation
Published in Hardcover by Palgrave Macmillan (February, 1987)
Average review score:

An evolutionary perspective on train technology.Potter provides a highly analytical debate on the development of train technology from the perspective of evolutionary economics. By using contrasting steel track with magnetic levitation technology, he also asesses the reasons that we may have found ourselves 'stuck' with a sub-optimal form of rail transport.
This book is an excellent case study for anyone with an interest in the evolutionary economics perspective on technological innovation.

The Peter Rabbit Nursery Frieze
Published in Paperback by Frederick Warne & Co (October, 1995)
Average review score:

Nursery Frieze Is AdorableI bought this Peter Rabbit Nursery Frieze for my daughters bedroom. It is not a book or a calendar as the description states. It's more of a three piece scene that you can put together and hang up on the wall of a room(like a poster or border, depending on how you hang it). It's a beautiful scene with all of the characters from the Beatrix Potter stories. I would highly recommend it for a childs room or nursery. It is absolutely adorable.

Portraits of Clay: Potters of Mata Ortiz
Published in Paperback by University of Arizona Press (April, 1998)
Average review score:

Mata Ortiz is well represented by this book! This is a great book about the history of Mata Ortiz with many wonderful photos of the artists and their work. Not as complete as the 'many faces' book, but WELL worth the price. Some of the same pots from this book can be seen in 3D at www.ortizpots.com. Having lived in Mata Ortiz, i've seen many publications, few as well made as this one.

The book gives some nice background information on the making of pots and highlights the role of serendipty (useful accidents) in art. This book seems to delight and inspire children, of all ages.

The Potter's Art (Material Culture (Indiana University, Bloomington).)
Published in Paperback by Indiana University Press (February, 2000)
Average review score:

A great work, for professional and layman alike!Henry Glassie has done it again! Professor Glassie's contributions to the field of material culture studies are well known in the field, and this work is no exception. In this book, Glassie takes a look at pottery manufacturing in 6 regions of the world -- Turkey, Bangladesh, the American Southwest and Georgia (U.S.), Japan and Sweden. However, Glassie does not simply look at ceramic production. Instead, the art and tradition embodied in clay, and the lives of the potters themselves, are at issue for Glassie. In addition to being a great introduction to pottery production in these regions, this book provides marvelous photographs of potters and their craft. This is an excellent book for professionals potters, archaeologists, or anyone interested in pottery, ceramics, or living traditions!
